Our Review of Zygor’s Leveling Guide

*Update: Horde and Alliance Dailies and Cataclysm leveling guide is all set, reviewed, and rates out as ‘holy crap.’ Cataclysm has been a blast. Hope you are enjoying it as much as I have.

Well, if you are new to World of Warcraft you may not have heard of Zygor’s Guide yet. If you are not new, then you probably have but may not be sure what all the fuss is about. I know I wasn’t and I’ve been playing since launch. (sadly sold my beta key, how little did I know back then heh).

WoW has made some of the grinding and leveling a bit more tolerable with each successive expansion, but it can still take quite awhile and grinding can become incredibly boring regardless of what class you are playing. With Cataclysm just on the horizon I decided I wanted to get a few of my other characters leveled up and reviewing the various leveling guides seemed like a fun way to go about doing it.

I thought I should maybe wait for Cataclysm, but Zygor offers lifetime updates and upgrades, so I didn’t have to concern myself with anything about that. And of course there is a free trial, too.

So, after leveling several characters with a number of guides (which have all been reviewed as well) Zygor’s leveling guide came out as the clear winner in Time, Ease of use, and most importantly to me fun. No grinding was involved whatsoever. It was all questing, and good fun quests as well… didn’t hurt that it was the quickest either.

Here are some of the highlights of the guide:

First and possibly most important for many is that fact that the guide comes with a free trial. You can read more here on that

Next, the user interface is both good looking (not that it really matter, plus you can turn the effects off if you want – it does come with four different skins if that happens to matter to you heh) and efficient and effective (obviously the much more important part).

The GUI tracks where you are in each quest and directs you where to go next. The most important part is that you will not waste time with boring and inefficient quests like other guides and add ons often have.

You can see what I am talking about in these images:

Guides for all Classes:

With Zygor’s guide it doesn’t matter what class you wish to level. The guide covers them all. Many guides are catered to power leveling hunters and similar classes. With Zygor you can still level easily and quickly as a Priest, Druid, Shaman, Paladin, Rogue or whatever your heart desires :P

A talent adviser is also included with the guide which recommends what talents you should get at each level for each class so that the leveling process can go as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Daily and Event Guide:

With dailies being a great source of gold and events happening every month you will want to be able to get the most possible out of them. Not everyone has time to do all their dailies every day, well not unless you know which ones to do and the quickest ways to do them. This can save you a lot of time each day and help you quickly save up a lot of gold for whatever you are eying on that auction house.

Extra Goodies:

Another pretty awesome thing about Zygor’s guide is all the extra goodies you get with it. Here are some of them.

  1. Lifetime free updates and upgrades with quick releases after patches/expansions.
  2. Dual-spec guides to show you the most effective specs for each class.
  3. Nether Drake Guide to show you how to quickly earn that beautiful old Nether Drake
  4. Inscription guide – I know someone who made over 100,000 gold after the 4.0 patch due to the glyph changes.
  5. Auction Guide will show you the most effective way to make money using Auctioneer – many make 5-10k a day off it.
  6. Food and Drink guide to show you what each food and drink will do to or for you. The more the merrier, right?

Well, I think that pretty much sums it up. Clearly I like this guide a lot… maybe too much heh – either way. Give it a try if you like, I certainly was not disappointed. Free trials are always a great thing, so you will know pretty quickly if it is something you want or not anyhow.

Check out the free trial here… oh and if you care about that sort of thing the guide comes with Alliance Leveling Guides as well…

Our Review of Nubun’s WoW Guide

While this guide does not quite match up with "http://hordelevelingguides.com/horde-leveling-guide-reviews/zygors-horde-leveling-guide-review/">Zygor’s or Dugi’s it is still an effective guide and one of the nice features is the variety of formats that it comes with.

One complaint a number of people have had is that some leveling guides take some of the joy out of playing the game. The directional arrows, quest markers, and straight forward directions on where to go, what to do, and how to complete each quest are great for most as it will quickly level you, some do prefer to feel more immersed in their surroundings while still leveling pretty quickly. If you feel you are one of the latter people then this may be the guide for you (it isn’t for me, I like to get done and move on – but I do understand that it is a game after all).

Anyhow, the guide does come in four formats so it should cover all types of gamers. Here are some examples of the various types:

The Full version with a nice GUI, directional arrows, and map markers can be seen in the images below:

Guide Graphical User Interface:

Directional Arrows:

Map Markers:
Guide objectives and map markers

With this package you will know quickly exactly where to go and what to kill.

Another option is the lighter and less intrusive user interface. It will still direct you to what quests to take and what you need to do, but it will not keep an arrow hovering by you and will not mark your map with exactly where your targets are so that you still get the feeling that you are hunting down your objectives. The guide can also hover over your window instead of switching to a pdf.

Simpler Interface:
Less intrusive leveling guide

Other formats include regular pdf with images and videos and a version with just text and no videos or images.

Overall this is a good guide with some different aspects to it that separate it some from some of the more well known guides.

And as with most Nubun’s guide also comes with some nice bonuses. They include, but are not limited, to the following:

  1. Death Knight leveling guide.
  2. Mod adviser to help you pick out the best mods for your class.
  3. Talent spec guide to show you how to perform your best as each spec for each class.
  4. Netherwing mount guide to help you quickly earn your drake.
  5. Life time updates for free
  6. Autopilot installation of all tools making it one of the easiest guides to install and get going with
  7. Full video recordings to back up all claims and also help you find your way should you get lost

Our Review of Dugi’s Leveling Guide

*Note: Also now completely Cataclysm ready for 1-85 including Worgen and Goblin as well as dungeons, dailies, etc.

This is the second guide we chose to review after Zygor’s Horde Leveling Guide and we were certainly not disappointed.

While to us it was not quite as complete, it is an excellent alternative that some people may prefer. Different strokes for different folks and all that. It did level us nearly as quickly as Zygor’s and the auto translation and complete versions in German, French, Russian, Spanish, Korean, and of course English are a nice touch to help out all the foreign World of Warcraft players out there.

And, similar to Zygor’s guide, Dugi also provides a free trial so you can tell if it is something you would be interested or not in – can’t say that for all of the guides we have reviewed, and I’m not exactly a leap of faith kind of guy when it comes to these sorts of things. Dugi’s Leveling Guide Highlights

Dugi’s guide is similar to some of the other top notch guides. It provides excellent in game add ons and thorough quest details, no grinding, and easy to follow directions.

The main guide selector is divided into four sections: Current guide, Dailies, Events, and Leveling. You can quickly swap guides to switch from leveling to dailies and so on. This is pretty hassle free and a nice touch as can be seen below:

WoW Leveling Guide Selection

The guide also provides the always important directional arrow coupled with the quest guide to point the directionally challenged of us out there in the correct direction to complete each quest.

Horde leveling guide directions

With the dailies and leveling guides we were able to hit 80 quite quickly, certainly days faster of played time than without and nearly as quickly as Zygor’s. We also made some excellent gold.

Extra Guide Bonuses

Dugi’s guide also comes with some really nice extra features.

A talent template add on will allow you to quickly change between specs and know you are putting your hard earned talent points into the right trees and places. You can see that in the image below:

World of Warcraft class talent templates

There is also a Macro guide for each class to help you set up some pretty awesome macros that will help you top the DPS charts or heal your party/raid members better than ever. An example of that is also shown below:

WoW Macro Guide

Other Basic Guide Details:

There are a number of other excellent guide features for Dugi’s leveling guide. Here are a few of them:

  1. Doesn’t matter what level you are, you can jump in anywhere
  2. Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansions are completely covers, including the new starting zones.
  3. Over 5000 quests are covered.
  4. Works well with Carbonite.
  5. Details how to complete each class quest.
  6. No grinding, all quest leveling.
  7. Customization is available if you want to tweak your guide settings.
  8. Only uses 5 megs of add on memory.
  9. Includes a dungeon guide and detailed maps.
  10. Includes life time free updates and a Cataclysm guide

And again the guide comes with a Free trial you can check out here
